5 Things to Do on a Rainy Day

Rainy days are for being cozy, snuggled under a blanket with a fire going, and a hot cup of sweetness warming your hands. We have had rain in large amounts that bring hope for a beautiful spring in drought-prone California, and despite the major flooding and landslides, many of us still hope for more.   The best kind of rainy day is one that happens when you are home from work. That way, you do not have to go outside. Unless of course, you love to jump around in the puddles and sport your cool rainy day outfit! Here are five things I love to do on a rainy day...
  1.  Wear a fierce rainy day outfit -If the rain gets you down, get out in it! Picking out the perfect clothes will undoubtedly lift your spirits and get you excited about the gray weather.  Red pants brighten up the dreariness while bright, colorful boots keep your feet dry in style. Opt for a classic trench while layering underneath., then top your look off with a chic fedora and, yessss...a pair of sunnies, because the chic factor is key ...rain or shine!

2. If you do go out, make sure your makeup is on fleek! - BE the sunshine with fresh, youthful makeup that will make everyone smile as you greet them. Use a moisturizer and primer to help your makeup lay evenly, and set with powder and a great setting spray, like Coola Setting Spray SPF 30 (36.00). Apply mascara to make your eyes twinkle, and don't forget that stay all day lip color. Stila Matte About You Lipstick (20.00) leads in my book, with colors that pop with a matte finish and stay on all day without drying out your lips!

3. If you choose to stay in, indulge in a nice, hot bubble bath! - As the rain falls and the cold wind howls, why not take this time to luxuriate in fragrant waters billowing with clouds of bubbles? Soak in a bath of epsom salt, baking soda and lavender essential oil, or drop a LUSH Bath Bomb  into the water and watch the colors explode! Keep a jar handy for keeping "tub time" goodies within reach, and mellow out to the sound of raindrops on the roof with a cup of tea...and don't forget a scented candle or two!

4.  Enjoy a nice cup of "hot and sweet" - Something nice and warm always feels good when being sipped, hands wrapped around a cup to feel the comfortable, radiant feeling of chill melt away from your fingers. Brew up a cup of your favorite; cocoa, coffee, tea, favorite soup, or try out this dreamy recipe...

Nutella Toasted Marshmallow Cocoa:

Ingredients -
  • 2 cups of almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons of Nutella
  • Whipped Cream
  • 1 Marshmallow

Directions-
Heat almond milk in a small saucepan until very warm. Add Nutella and stir until blended. Pour into cups and top with whipped cream.
Toast marshmallow and drop on top. Enjoy!

5.  Get cozy, of course - We all know getting the fire going and slipping beneath a cozy blanket, like this oversized knit throw from UGG (300.00) is the best thing during a rainy day! Put on some thick, comfortable socks and watch the fire burn while wrapped in plush comfort.

5...Again! Make a rainy day playlist - Finally, add a soundtrack to your indoor stormy day by making a playlist that reminds you of all of your favorite times in the rain. Or play ones already created on a music service like Apple Music, Google Play or Spotify. Here is a list of my favorite rainy day songs, maybe you'll like them, too!
